Mobcrush would like to introduce you to the Mobcrush Bot Initiative Extravaganza Beta NEO HD (This name is not real and terrible. - Management). Yes, your days of wandering aimlessly without a digital robot friend are over! This is just the first of many chat enhancements we’re building for the Mobcrush Community in the coming weeks and months.
Download and extract the Mobcrush Bot to your Mac computer
Create a Mobcrush account for your bot and make it a Moderator on your channel
Pick your word filter .txt file (example included in bot folder)
Log In with your account and the bot account
Before you download the bot, create a second account on Mobcrush for the bot. You can name it anything you want and give it a sweet profile pic. We suggest putting “Bot” in the name to help your fans quickly realize it’s a bot, but it is not a requirement. Make this new bot account a Moderator on the channel you'll be using it on so it has the ability to delete messages and is not affected by limitations like Slow Mode.
To begin, download and extract your bot to your computer and run the contained executable. The file contains both a PC (1.0.1Build-win32-x64) & Mac (1.0.1Build-darwin-x64) versions of the bot.
The bot can be run on a separate computer instead the device you’re broadcasting from as long as it’s connected to the Internet. If you’re having trouble running the app on Mac, make sure that you go into Security & Privacy in Settings and make the appropriate changes.
Once it’s running you’ll see the following window. Type in your broadcaster/channel credentials and then those of your bot. This is also where you can select your blocked words list, but for your first time running you can skip this. We’ll cover the word filter feature in more detail below.
You’ll know the bot is running when you see it join your chat room. If you close the bot program, or your computer shuts off, the bot will leave your chat.
If you’ve installed the bot, see it running in chat, and have made it a Moderator in your channel, we can now move on to the fun part…
To use the word filter, you can use the example file included in the Mobcrush Bot folder you downloaded. It includes a couple tame words for testing, but you can edit it to include a wide array of words you do not want to show up in your chat. Edit the .txt file with an app like TextEditor (in Mac app store) or Notepad. Once the file is created, add one word you want to block per line, and save. The file can be named anything. Then when you launch the bot, select the file from the Mobcrush Bot UI, and hit Start. Any words or phrases that match that list will be automatically hidden from chat as though a human moderator had done so. You can add or remove words from the list at any time, but you must restart the bot and reselect the file for them to take effect.
Important: Variations of these words with numbers, spaces, etc will not be detected or auto-deleted unless you also add those specific variations to the list as well. Example: poop, p o o p, p00p, etc
Message of the Day:
Type in the message you want the bot to repeat in chat and how often. Pretty simple.
Pick the time you want the giveaway to run for and hit Start Giveaway. Once the time runs out the bot will pick a random winner. If you stop the giveaway early, no winner will be chosen.
To enter, viewers need to type !enter in chat - The bot will only enter users into a giveaway if giveaway polling is in progress.
This one is pretty straightforward. Type in the poll question and options, and hit Start Poll.
Enables or disables the posting of URLs/links in chat. URLs posted by the broadcaster will always be allowed. Note: This is experimental and only filters out URLs that begin with “http” or “www”.
There are two “secret” commands that we’ve included for fun.
