An overlay is an image that sits on top of your gameplay and underneath your camera during a stream.
Here's an example from one of our broadcasters:
What can I use an overlay for?
You can use an overlay to call attention to your social media channels, tell people what game/game modes you are currently playing, or simply add a special touch to your broadcasts.
For an overlay template you can edit, visit our Mobcrush Community Files and download the .PSD file to use in editors like Photoshop. You can also download our simple Mobcrush-branded overlay to use in your broadcasts.
To use overlays:
- Create a transparent .PNG with your overlay (using Photoshop or the editor of your choice) set to the resolution of your iOS device with a ppi/dpi set to 72. For a cheat sheet on iOS resolutions, check out this handy cheat sheet.
- Run the Mac OSX app, and use the dropdown menu to "Choose an Overlay." Select the overlay you just created, and it should appear on top of your gameplay and under your camera (if you have turned your face camera on).
- If you do not see it immediately, try changing the camera source or plugging in your device, and it should appear.
